How to apply for production access after closed testing

6 min readUpdated 2026-09

When your closed testing period is complete, Play Console unlocks the production access application. This guide covers what Google asks and how to prepare answers that get approved.

When you can apply

The application becomes available once the closed testing requirement is satisfied: the required number of testers opted in for 14 consecutive days (Play Console shows whether you have met it).

The questions Google asks

  • How did you recruit testers and how many participated?
  • What feedback did you collect and what did you change as a result?
  • How does your app provide value to users?
  • What is your app's core functionality and target audience?

How to prepare strong answers

  • Keep the feedback you collected during testing — quotes and screenshots help
  • Describe concrete changes you shipped because of that feedback
  • Make sure your store listing, screenshots and privacy policy match what the app actually does
  • Answer in plain language; Google reviews thousands of these forms

After you apply

Reviews usually take a few days. If you are rejected, the message tells you which requirement was not met — in most cases it is the testing period or the quality of your feedback. You can fix it and re-apply.

How long does production access review take?

Usually a few days. Google reviews the form together with your closed testing history and your store listing.

Why was my production access rejected?

The most common reasons are: the closed testing period was not actually complete, testers were not real or did not use the app, or the application form was too vague about feedback and changes.

Can I apply again after a rejection?

Yes. Fix the issue Google points out, then submit the application again — there is no limit on re-applications.
